Idea #2

I did realize that my first idea was in fact described in the article Platform of fame so we will then say it was a pre-idea, and here comes the second idea.
I love to gather with friends for lunch or happy hour after work, and I am not alone, a lot of people do. When it's over lunch, you don't have a lot of time, want a nice and not so crowded place and you want it to be near your office, as the person you meet with do. Add a third person on top of that and it can be chaotic.
So I have always dreamt about a simple yet effective application: you enter the addresses of the people you want to meet with, the app calculates the equidistance meeting point and it offers you different lunch options.
Actually, it is pretty simple for an app to calculate a meeting point with the coordinates of the addresses, and you simplify it by using Google maps as a lot of locals are already registered. Otherwise, partnering with restaurants and bars could be a great mutual opportunity. But true, it doesn't need to be an app, it can actually be a feature of Google maps.
Anyways, it would be very cool to have something like that, especially if you are up to try new places and want to meet to a fair distance for everyone.

From mass production to mass customization.

Customization seems to be the answer to clients new requirements and the textile industry adopted this concept really quickly.
On demand - just in time production - no inventory cost, but what about the cost of production? The business model is not yet perfected, many former companies can testify it.
However customization allows a company to adapt its products or services to the exact (or almost exact) needs and desires of an individual. And this is just perfect, because we all want to be special, have our own and individualized products and services.

Even Apple now declines its iPhone in different colors (maybe for Apple it's a bit different, I mean, is it a sign of understanding customers wishes or a lack of further innovation to offer?)!
We want new, individual, unique experiences in a global market where everyone wants the same product!
The answer is then mass customization, where a company can take advantage of both mass production combined with customization. And it is becoming very important for company to understand and apply it because alternative is mainstream and customization, a mass concept.

This video about Tailorwork was really well done, unfortunately, the company no longer exists or so it seems.
I am leaving you, I have to go drink my made to order extra hot, light, chai tea latte with soy milk and eat my personalized M&Ms ;)

I can't stop imagining new ways to do stuff, new objects, new hobbies, new restaurants.... However what's the point of an idea if I don't start something with it? Good or bad, if I imagine it, someone else will do or already did so.
Then, as I am not going to open a gym, a restaurant or launch new products on the market - at least not for now - I am going to share some of the ideas I have, had, will have. I use to write down most of them, still I can't remember them all.

Today, I wanted to talk about strollers. Family law in France works effectively and children are everywhere! Have you ever noticed that many women/men with strollers are also checking their phone? giving one hand to another child? trying to blow their nose (don't forget it's winter time) ? Well, it's very impractical!

Nonetheless, parents know that you always need one hand to do something else while pushing a stroller! So, you have the jogging strollers, the lightweight strollers and the like, but there is still no one hand controlled stroller. Indeed, you might think that parents want to be sure that they have full control over the stroller, but wouldn't it be great to have the freedom to use only one hand sometimes?

Parents need the ONE hand free option! Strollers makers give it to them!

Or what storekeepers have always been doing that we need to learn!
A quick background. When you leave a country where you have been living for 3 years, it is always difficult. You know a new and exciting adventure is waiting for you, sometimes it's frightening if you don't really know what to expect or where you are really going. The sad part is leaving friends, places and what was your home during these years and knowing that even if you come back one day, nothing will be the same, and specially you. (that's a whole other story!). When I decided to leave Chicago, it felt bittersweet, but what was funny is the way people around me reacted. A month before my departure, I was about to get off a bus and the bus driver looked at me and told me

"You leaving me?"
A priceless coincidence that could only make me smile back at him. Deep inside, it was like if the city (ok, maybe one flirty bus driver - but I wanted to feel important) was begging me to stay ;)

In my neighborhood I experienced two very sweet situations. During my last week, I went to my beauty salon. As usual, we were talking a lot with my esthetician and right before I left, she gave me a strong hug. It was a very thoughtful gesture and it felt so good and warm. Few days before, the cleaning lady, which is nice and always have very kind words, also hugged me. It was so unexpected that it brought a tear to my eye. For me, her embrace was honest and lovely (In both situation, I didn't feel that my personal space was being invaded). This was really my neighborhood and these people were not only very business minded in general, they also genuinely cared about me. Or at least this is what I want to believe.
